PoE Temperature
Protection
There are five modes for configuring how the ports/PDs may reserve power and
when to shut down ports.
Classification mode:
System reserves PoE power to PD according to PoE class
level.
Allocation mode
: allows user to assign PoE power to per port.
Consumption mode
: System offers PoE power accordint to PD real power
consumption.
Priority mode
: System offers PoE power according to per port priority setting
when power consumption has been over total power budget.
The default PoE management mode is “
Consumption mode
”.

PD Classifications
A PD may be classified by the PSE based on the classification information provided by the PD. The intent of PD classification is
to provide information about the maximum power required by the PD during operation.
Class 0
is the default for PDs. However,
to improve power management at the PSE, the PD may opt to provide a signature for
Class 1 to 4
.
The PD is classified based on power. The classification of the PD is the maximum power that the PD will draw across all input
voltages and operational modes.
