Listening to a CD or MP3/
WMA disc
This system can p lay back a standa r d CD, CD-R/RW in the CD
fo r mat and CD-R/RW with MP3 o r WMA files, but cannot
r eco r d on them. Some audio CD-R and CD-RW discs may not
be p layable due to the state of the disc o r the device that was
used fo r r eco r ding.
MP3:
MP3 is a fo r m of com pr ession. It is an ac r onym which stands
fo r MPEG Audio Laye r 3. MP3 is a ty p e of audio code which is
pr ocessed by significant com pr ession f r om the o r iginal audio
sou r ce with ve r y little loss in sound quality.
• This system su pp o r ts MPEG-1/2/2.5 Audio Laye r 3
(Sam p ling r ates: 8 kHz to 48 kHz; Bit r ates: 32 kb p s to 320
kb p s).
• Du r ing VBR file p layback, time counte r in the dis p lay may
diffe r f r om its actual p layback time.
WMA:
WMA files a r e Advanced System Fo r mat files that include
audio files which a r e com pr essed with Windows Media
Audio codec. WMA is develo p ed by Mic r osoft as an audio
fo r mat file fo r Windows Media Playe r .
• This system su pp o r ts WMA (Sam p ling r ates: 32 kHz/44.1
kHz/48 kHz; Bit r ates: 32 kb p s to 320 kb p s).
Disc playback
1 Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the power on.
2 Press the CD button on the remote control or INPUT
button repeatedly on the main unit to select CD
function.
3 Press the button to open the disc tray.
4 Place the disc on the disc tray, label side up.
5 Press the button to close the disc tray.
6 Press the / ( ) button to start playback. After the
last track is played, the unit will stop automatically.
CAUTION
• Do not p lace two discs in one disc t r ay.
• Do not p lay discs of s p ecial sha p es (hea r t, octagon, etc).
It may cause malfunctions.
• Do not p ush the disc t r ay whilst it is moving.
• If the p owe r fails whilst the t r ay is o p en, wait until the
p owe r is r esto r ed.
• Be su r e to p lace 8 cm disc in the middle of the disc t r ay.
Note
• Due to the st r uctu r e of the disc info r mation, it takes
longe r to r ead an MP3/WMA disc than a no r mal CD
(a ppr oximately 20 to 90 seconds).
• “MP3” o r “WMA” will a pp ea r afte r the unit r eads
info r mation on an MP3 o r WMA disc.
• When the end of the last t r ack is r eached du r ing fast
fo r wa r d, “END” will a pp ea r on the dis p lay and CD
o p e r ation will be p aused. When the beginning of the fi r st
t r ack is r eached du r ing fast r eve r se, the unit will ente r the
p layback mode (only fo r CD).
• Rew r itable multi-session discs with unfinished w r iting,
can still be p layed.
• If TV o r r adio inte r fe r ence occu r s du r ing CD o p e r ation,
move the unit away f r om the TV o r r adio.
Various disc functions
Resume:
1 You can resume the track you stopped.
While a disc is p laying, pr ess the button.
2 The system stores the track you stopped and is
blinking on the display.
To r esta r t p lay, pr ess the / ( ) button.
Play r esumes f r om the beginning of the t r ack you sto pp ed.
To cancel the resume playback:
