Thermoelectric Cooler (TEC)

TEC Description
The sensor has an integrated thermoelectrical cooler (TEC) which is driven by camera electronic
to stabilize the temperature of the sensor. The performance of the camera TEC is mainly
limited by the heat transfer capability of the system setup. The sensor TEC is controlled by a
PID controller which can cool and heat the sensor. The PID controller is implemented as an
inverted OPV PID controller were the parameters are related to specific resistors and capacitors.
The values of the controller parameters are determined by the response of the camera in
standard setups.
The user can set the target temperature for the sensor TEC through software. The current
through the TEC is limited in the camera to TBDX

1A. Table 10.1 gives the minimum
temperature set point in dependency of ambient temperature and the thermal resistivity. The
actual sensor temperature and the TEC current can be read software. The data of several
measurements are averaged. The higher the ambient temperature and the higher the thermal
resistivity in the vision system setup, the higher is the minimal stable temperature of the SWIR
sensor.
