The schottky diode will conduct most of the current, thus protecting the parasitic diode.
Fig.40 shows the current distribution between the schottky diode and the parasitic diode.
The yellow trace shows the current through the parasitic diode at 5A/division and the
magenta trace shows the current through the schottky diode at 10A/division.
