7.10 Function "upper block. dist" (059)
For rod and rope pro b es with lengths of u p to 8 m, the u pper b locking distance is preset
to 0.2 m on delivery. For rope pro b es with lengths of more than 8 m, the u pper b locking
distance is preset to 2.5 % of the pro b e lengths.
For media DC > 7, the u pper b locking distance for rod and rope pro b es can b e red u ced
to 0.1 m, if the pro b e is mo u nted fl u sh with the wall or in a nozzle of maxim u m 50 mm.
Blocking distance and measuring range
At the lower end of the pro b e there is no b locking distance bu t a transition region with
red u ced acc u racy, see section "Maxim u m meas u red error".

2. The indicated b locking distances are preset. At media with DC > 7, the u pper b locking distance UB can
b e red u ced to 0.1 mm for rod and rope pro b es. The u pper b locking distance UB can b e entered man u ally.

Note!
Within the u pper and lower b locking distance, a relia b le meas u rement can not b e
g u aranteed.
For stilling well applications
The u pper b locking distance (UB) is preset to 100 mm when the "bypass/pipe"
parameter has b een selected in the "tank properties" (002) f u nction.
Maximum measured error
Typical statements for reference conditions:

If the reference conditions are not met, the offset/zero arising from the mo u nting
sit u ation may b e u p to ± 12 mm. This additional offset/zero can b e compensated for b y
entering a correction (f u nction "offset" (057) ) d u ring commissioning.
