If there are combustion devices in more than one room,
however, and there are only a limited number of detectors or
just one detector available, the following points should be
taken into account in the selection of the best location:
If there is a combustion device in a room in which you
sleep, you should install a detector in this room.
If there is a combustion device in the room in which you
spend a lot of your time, e.g. the living room, you should
install a detector in this room.
In a 1-room apartment, the detector should be installed
as far away as possible from the cooking facilities but
close to the sleeping area.
If there is a combustion device in a room which is
normally not used (e.g. boiler room), you should install
a carbon monoxide detector directly outside this room so
that the detector can be heard more easily.
Always check out the heating appliances and fuels in
holiday premises. The carbon monoxide detector is ideal
for taking on holiday, always remember to also take this
user manual.
The installation location must be selected in accordance with
the following criteria:
When wall mounted, the device should be located near
the ceiling whilst maintaining a distance of 150 mm to
the ceiling. When ceiling mounted, the device should be
located at least 300 mm from any wall.
The device should be placed at a height above that of all
doors and windows.
The carbon monoxide device should be placed at a
distance which, measured horizontally, is between 1 m
and 3 m from the possible source.
If there is a partition in a room, the device should be on
the same side of the partition as the possible source.
In rooms with sloping ceilings the device should be
located at the higher side of the room.
It should be possible to view the LED light indicators
when in the vicinity of the device.
The detector should be installed at a height of 1,5 m
above floor level and it should be installed close to the
breathing zone of the occupants. The breathing zone
should be regarded as the horizontal level in the room
where a persons head spends most of the time, i.e. while
sat in a chair or laid on a pillow. Pay particular attention
to the normal location of the elderly and disabled.
In sleeping rooms the detector should be located next to
the bed.

Outside of buildings, e.g. for the monitoring of open gas-

Separated areas (e.g. closet interiors or behind curtains)
which could prevent the alarm from triggering
Next to a door or window
In air currents from fans (ventilation, air-conditioning,
etc.)
Close to an air vent (e.g. extraction hood) or other similar
equipment or ventilation openings
Areas in which the temperature can fall below -10° C or
rise above +40° C
Damp or wet rooms such as bathrooms and showers
where the relative humidity can rise above 90%
Directly next to a cooking stove
Directly above cooking facilities
Directly above a drain or a basin
Areas where dirt and dust can clog the sensor
In rooms with potentially explosive atmospheres
The device can either be fixed with two screws to a wall or it
can be free standing using the stand [11].
1. 1 Slide the baseplate [7] onto the detector. The device
will automatically switch on and beep 4 times whilst the
LEDs [1-3] illuminate. Test the device by following the
test procedure (see chapter 12).
To remove the baseplate and turn off the device depress
the tab [9] fully towards the back of the baseplate and
slide the detector upwards.
2. Slide the detector onto the stand [11].
3. Position the detector in the chosen location in free air
with no local obstructions and close to the front edge of
shelves and surfaces (see chapter 10 „Location“)
The alarm must not be used outdoors!
