Chapter 4
Configuring for Ethernet
Configuration Basics
Configuration is the process of entering Ethernet settings that will allow the MiniCapt
Remote Microbial Air Sampler to communicate over a specific network.
Appropriate Ethernet settings are required for the Modbus TCP protocol (see
Chapter 5, “Modbus Protocol.”)for use with third party applications.
NOTE:
The following information assumes that the user has a working
knowledge of terminal emulation software such as
HyperTerminal
®
.
When to Configure the Sampler
The sampler should have the appropriate Ethernet settings configured
before
it is
wired to a network. This can be performed either before fluidic installation, if access to
the back of the sensor is problematic, or in-situ, if back panel access is not an issue.
Required Hardware and Software

NOTE:
Microsoft Windows® includes a terminal emulator called
HyperTerminal. Other terminal emulator programs, are widely
available. Your IT administrator or microcomputer support
person may be able to provide assistance.
