Connecting an SD Memory Card

If your player has a USB port, attach an SD Memory Card to the player and connect
the player to the computer. (See the player’s Operating Instructions for details.)
If there is no USB port on the player, attach an SD Memory Card to a USB
Reader/Writer, and then connect the USB Reader/Writer to the computer.
• After you have correctly connected the player
or USB Reader/Writer, it will be identified in
the Device Manager list.
(Example)
In Windows XP, the USB Reader/Writer is
listed as "USB Mass Storage Device."
• During SD Memory Card access, the card
access lamp will illuminate on the player or USB
Reader/Writer. Do not remove the SD Memory
Card when this indicator is illuminated.
Connect the player or USB Reader/Writer to the computer's
USB port.
Turn on the computer and start Windows.
Use the Device Manager or other means to confirm that the player or USB
Reader/Writer has been detected by the computer. (See below.)
Correctly attach the SD Memory Card to the player or
USB Reader/Writer.
Be careful to attach the SD Memory Card in the right direction. Attaching it
the wrong way might damage the card or the insertion slot.
• When using Windows 98 SE/Me
1 Close the software program that is using the SD Memory Card.
2 Check to see the access lamp on the player or USB Reader/Writer is off, and
then remove the SD Memory Card.
• When using Windows 2000/XP
1 Close the software program that is using the SD Memory Card.
2 Click the card icon displayed in the system tray on the lower right of the screen
and stop the USB mass storage device.
3 Check to see the access lamp on the player or USB Reader/Writer is off, and
then remove the SD Memory Card.
