Rucksack
The bag is light in weight, comfortable and useful (padded hip belt,
ergonomic and adjustable shoulder straps). It has a large volume that
will allow you to store all your kit, whilst still being comfortable for
hiking.
Brake Lines
The brake line lengths have been set carefully during testing. We feel
it is better to have slightly long brake lines and to fly with a wrap
(one turn of line around the hand). However, if you do choose to ad-
just them, please bear in mind the following:
Ensure both main brake lines are of equal length.
•
If a brake handle has been removed, check that its line is still
•
routed through the pulley when it is replaced.
When the brake handles are released in flight, the brake lines
•
should be slack. There must be a substantial “bow” in them to
guarantee no deformation of the trailing edge.
There must be a minimum of 10cm of free play before the brakes
•
begin to deform the trailing edge. This prevents the trailing edge
from being deformed when using the speed system.
IMPORTANT: In the unlikely event of a brake line snapping
in flight, or a handle becoming detached, the glider can be
flown by gently pulling the rear risers (C-risers) for direc-
tional control.
Risers
There are 2 different riser options available for the LM5; Standard
and Lightweight. Standard risers are made from 12mm black Cousin
webbing and the lightweight risers are made from 7mm Dyneema.
Both have specially designed ‘Link Lite’ connectors to hold the riser
lines. Link Lites are tested to over 500kg and save weight compared
to standard maillons.
Note: At trim speed the risers are NOT of equal length.

The LM5 was developed specifically for the X-Alps race. It combines
cutting edge design technology recently gained from the Ozone Per-
formance Project and the Mantra R series of wings (R11, R12, EnZo)
and over a decade of ultra-light paraglider construction and material
research.
An aspect ratio of 6.9 offers a balance of performance and manage-
ability, and a highly refined internal tension lends a tight and compact
feel across the span of the wing, even in turbulent conditions. This
coordinated feel, combined with an ideal aspect ratio, translates to
superb climbing characteristics and high efficiency during turbulent
glides.
The LM5 profile is a hybrid design combining the best features of the
SharkNose Technology with the fun and efficiency of the Delta 2. It
is solid at accelerated speeds, and extremely resistant to spin and
stall. The shark profile provides a more constant internal pressure in
active air and turbulence, increasing passive stability and creating an
even more comfortable and stable feel in accelerated flight. The new
profile has also improved the launch behaviour by reducing “shooting”
in higher wind conditions.
Precise feedback is provided by the LM5’s 3-line system. The 3 line
design provides the optimum balance between ease of takeoff, usabil-
ity in active air, overall weight / size, and comfort / performance.
Weight has been reduced to a minimum without compromising the
strength and safety of the wing. The LM5 has full EN D flight and
load test certification. With a tight, crisp, agile feel in the air and
performance that rivals competition wings, the LM5 is built to carry
you through the most demanding of flyable conditions.
The LM5 is suitable for highly experienced and competent XC pilots
who spend more than 100 hours per year in thermal conditions.
