WORKING WITH TRACES, CONT.
TRACE SCREEN
Shows the following
information:
OTDR trace(s).
Each
wavelength is assigned a
different color
Wavelength legend.
Indicates the color of
each wavelength trace.
Events.
Corresponds to
the event numbers in the
event table.
Distance.
Shown in
either meters or feet on
the X axis.
Power level.
Shown in dB on the Y axis; 0 dB (a.k.a. origin) can be set to either top or bottom of Y axis.
Cursors.
When cursors are activated, they will appear on the trace screen as red and green vertical lines.
EVENT TABLE
Shows the following
information:
Event #.
Shows the
e v e n t n u m b e r ;
corresponds to the event
number shown on the
trace screen.
Event Type.
Shows the type of event: reflective, non-reflective, reflective start, reflective end, multiple reflective, etc.
Event Start.
Shows the distance to the start of the event (in either meters or feet).
Event End.
Shows the distance to the end of the event (in either meters or feet).
Reflectivity.
Also called reflectance; indicates how much light reflects back towards the OTDR (applies to reflective events only).
Loss.
Also called attenuation; indicates how much loss occurs through the event.
MISCELLANEOUS INFO
Allows users to enter custom information about the trace.
STATUS BAR
Shows current distance and dB at the mouse cursor position.
