6.2
4 Channel Post-Recording Steering
When recording with the 4 internal microphones or the 4 channel array mic,
SoundControl can post-process the recorded channels to enhance the audio in a user
selectable direction. With 4 channel recordings, SoundControl automatically displays
the post-recording steering options as shown below. Click [On] to enable post-
recording steering and click the within the steering window to enhance the required
direction.

1) Post-recording steering will only operate with 4 channel recordings made
with the internal microphones or the external 4 channel array.
2) The steering can provide up to 15dBs of directional enhancement.
However, the perceived results will vary dependent upon the amount of echo
at the location of the recording (eg if the target is in a location with little sound
absorption, the enhancement will be less pronounced as the echo is also
enhanced.)
The post-recording steered playback can be stored as a WAV file by exporting the take
or region of interest as shown below.
