4. INSTALLATION

4.1 Considerations at Installation

(1) Select a location easy to access for inspection and maintenance.

(2) Avoid a location subject to excessive temperature variation and vibration.

(3) Avoid direct exposure to the sun. (Provide a shelter or sunshade to protect from exposure to the sun.)

(4) Avoid a location with the possibility of immersion in water.

(5) Select a location free from an atmosphere of corrosive gases.

(6) Location should be free from dust and mist.

(7) Separate at least one meter from sources of electromagnetic induction, such as large transformers

and motors.

(8) To ensure stable and accurate measurement, adhere to the pipe support instructions given on page

27 for installation.

(9) Coriolis flowmeter requires an installation location where pipeline oscillation is held below 0.3G to

ensure stable and accurate metering.

(10) Locate the control valve downstream of ULTRAmassMK

Where cavitation may possibly occur, install at least five meters away.

4.2 Orientation Guidelines

(1) The sensor may be installed either in a horizontal run or vertical run. The following physical

orientations are suggested, depending on the type of process fluid.

If the process fluid tends to foam or accumulate deposits, or if emptying or

purging after metering is required, the sensor should be installed in a vertical run.

(2) Installation in a vertical run is suggested for a sanitary fitting sensor with integrally-mounted

transmitter.

(3) If cable entry points upwards, there must be adequate provisions for sealing off or preventing

rainwater and other moisture from entering the meter.
