2.8 Loading the Ribbon
The CP-1001 series is designed for uni-colour printing, and the CP-1002 series is designed for two-
colour printing.
This section describes how to load the ribbon onto the Ribbon Module and to set it into the printer.
Please be sure to use the Output Solutions approved ribbons.
NOTES:
1. As the ribbon has ink side and base side, be careful not to load the ribbon oppositely. Incorrectly loaded
ribbon causes not only no print, but also necessity of print head replacement.
2. When dispose of the used ribbon, please follow the local rules and regulations.
3. Do not print the media that has been printed on this printer with a laser printer, as this will melt the ribbon
transferred to the media.
4. Be sure to use the ribbon that matches the media width. Failure to do this may cause ribbon wrinkles or
print head failure.

68 mm 45 mm to 60 mm (business card)
109 mm 70 mm to 120 mm (post card, etc.)
5. The following diagram shows how to know which is the Ribbon Supply Roll and Ribbon Take-Up Roll of
a half-used ribbon.
2.8.1 Ribbon Loading Procedure
1. Open the Top Cover fully.
WARNING!
1. When opening the Top Cover, be sure to fully open it. Failure to do this may cause the Top
Cover to close by itself, resulting in injury.
2. Do not touch the Print Head and around it immediately after printing. As this may cause you to
burn.
