5.2 Fitting and Application
5.2.1 Adaptation
Therapy stage 1 – use the brace with bridging element and support element (state on
delivery)
1) Open the strap tensioners (7) and the abdominal closures (13).
2) Position the brace around the back (see fig. 1, see fig. 2).
3)
Optional: Adjust the circumference and compression
Remove the straight side parts (10), respectively in the same width, on both sides and reat
tach the abdominal closures (13) with hook-and-loop (see fig. 3). Here the red line serves as a
guide.
Optional:
Use the wedge-shaped side parts.
4)
Optional: Adjust the strap
The length of the strap (14) can be adjusted with the strap guide
loop (6) of the strap tensioner (7) (see fig. 4). If necessary, trim the end of the strap with scis
sors and melt the cut edge.
Therapy stage 2 – remove the bridging element
►
Release the mounting adapter (3) of the bridging element holder by turning it counter-clock
wise (see fig. 5) and remove the bridging element (2) (see fig. 6).
Therapy stage 3 – remove the support element
1) To remove the support element (4), release the strap holder (8) by opening the clip rivet (9) on
the abdominal closure (13) (see fig. 7).
2) Remove the support element (4) with strap (14) from the brace (see fig. 8).
3) Attach the lumbar pad.
Check the applied brace in therapy stage 1 through 3 for positioning, compression and fit.
5.2.2 Application
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to improper or exces
sively tight application
►
Ensure that the product is applied properly and fits correctly.
1) Apply the brace with the red line on the inner side down so that the support element (4) is
positioned over the entire width of the back (see fig. 1).
2) To close the brace, put your fingers into the grip pockets of the abdominal closures (13) (see
fig. 2).
3) Pull the brace evenly to the front and, to close it, attach the right part of the abdominal closure
(13) onto the left part with the hook-and-loop (see fig. 2).
4) Apply even tension to the support element (4) using the strap tensioners (7) (see fig. 9) and
attach the strap tensioners to the upper right abdominal closure (13) with the hook-and-loop
(see fig. 10). Make sure that the hook-and-loop surface is fully fastened and not in contact
with clothing or skin.
5) Explain to the patient how to put the brace on, take it off, and ensure its correct positioning
and fit. Together, practice how to put the brace on and take it off correctly.
