NSE Smart
NSE Smart
enables more efficient testing by skipping points that have
already achieved an acceptably low noise level so that test time can be
spent on other points that are still contaminated by noise.
With
NSE Smart On
,
any point which has a noise level below the level set
is skipped. For example if
NSE Smart
were set to -5 and the noise level
at 2kHz were -6dBSPL then the 2kHz band would not be tested on future
loops in that test run.
Note:
Care should be taken when using
Auto Stop
and
NSE Smart
together, as setting a high value for
NSE Smart
might prevent a
frequency or level from being tested for long enough to reveal a
valid OAE. If using
Auto Stop
, the highest level at which
NSE
Smart
can be securely set is the minimum band signal level
minus the minimum band SNR. For example: if ‘minimum signal
level’ is set to -5dBSPL and the ‘minimum SNR’ is set to 6dB
then, with
Auto Stop On
, the highest that
NSE Smart
should be
set to is -11dBSPL. There is no automatic alert to bad settings.
If
Auto Stop
is
Off
and all points have met the skip criteria (
NSE Smart
or
SNR Smart
) then testing continues at all frequencies with none of them
skipped. Manual termination is required.
