11. Attach the wire rope/cable to the
equipment to be loaded. Always
use V-straps or hook-up chains
to attach the wire rope/cable to
the equipment. Refer to the
equipment manufacturer’s
manual for correct tie-down
attachment points. For the
best weight distribution of your
load, make sure the equipment
is loaded onto the deck with the
heavy end forward.
12. Re-engage the winch clutch.
(See Winch Operation,
Sections 4.3 and 4.4)
13. Slowly operate the Winch
Control to remove any slack in
the wire rope/cable.
Maintain a minimum of five (5) wraps of wire rope/cable on the winch
drum at all times. Also maintain a uniform wrap of wire rope/cable on the
drum to avoid crushing of the wire rope/cable.
Always use V-straps or hook-up chains. Never connect the wire rope/
cable hook directly to equipment. Never hook the wire rope/cable back
onto itself because damage to the wire rope/cable will occur.
Always attach the wire rope/cable with the hook pointing up.
