Identify and Remove a Faulty M.2 Flash SSD

Identify and Remove a Faulty M.2 Flash SSD

1.

Prepare the server for service.

a.   

Extend the server into maintenance position.

See 

“Extend the Server to the Maintenance Position” on page 60

.

b.   

Attach an antistatic wrist strap to your wrist, and then to a metal area on the

chassis.

See 

“Electrostatic Discharge Safety” on page 50

.

c.   

Remove the server top cover.

See 

“Remove the Server Top Cover” on page 63

.

2.

Identify and note the location of the faulty M.2 flash SSD by pressing the Fault

Remind button on the motherboard.

See 

“Using the Server Fault Remind Button” on page 124

.

Faulty SSDs are identified with a corresponding amber LED on the flash riser board.

■

If the SSD fault LED is off, then the SSD is operating properly.

■

If the SSD fault LED is on (amber), then the SSD is faulty and should be replaced [1].

Note - 

The green Power LED indicator is illuminated when power is being applied to the

system. The green Power LED indicator is extinguished when you open the socket ejectors.
