2. Operation steps

After installing the backscatter detector correctly, press the Power button, the button
will turn red.

Clicking menu [Image > Multi Channels > Dual Channels] can start the dual channel image
display mode, the capture window is shown below. By default the left side is channel one
(secondary electron image) and the right side is channel two (backscatter image). The
source of the image channel detector can be modified (see 3.7.12. Parameter Setting).

The secondary electron image can be adjusted first, and the working distance can be
adjusted to about 7mm (the best working distance of backscattering). The condenser
lens is generally selected between 400 and 450.

After the secondary electronic image is clear, the backscatter image is also clear, and the
brightness and contrast can be adjusted according to the situation.

When the backscatter image is collected, the scroll bar of Signal 2 Brightness adjustment
is shown below the control panel, which can be used to adjust the brightness of
backscatter image. When only the secondary electron image is collected, the scroll bar
for Signal 2 Brightness adjustment below the control panel will be hidden.

Note: To collect component image, sample should be smoothed and polished, but not
eroded.
