Test your blood glucose or control solution
Warnings:
Do not
:
• Press the test strip against the test site
• Scrape the blood onto the test strip
• Apply blood to the flat side of the test strip
• Apply blood to the test strip when it is out of the BG meter
• Put blood or foreign objects into the test strip port
If the device is being operated by a second person who is providing testing
assistance to the user, the BG meter and lancing device should be disinfected
prior to use by the second person (see the instructions that came with your
lancing device and also see "PDM cleaning and disinfecting" on page 113).
Warnings:
To ensure accurate results, wash your hands and the test site (for example,
your upper arm) with soap and water. Do not leave any cream or lotion on the
test site. Thoroughly dry your hands and the test site.
Measurements obtained from alternate site testing should not be used to
calculate insulin doses with the Omnipod® System.
To test your blood glucose or to perform a control solution test:
1. Prepare a drop of blood or control solution:
Blood :
a. Lance the test site, following your lancing device instructions.
b. Gently squeeze or massage the test site until a round drop of blood
forms.
Note:
If the blood smears or runs, do not use that sample. Dry the area
and gently squeeze another drop of blood, or use the lancing device at a
new site.
Control solution
: Prepare the control solution according to its instructions-
for-use.
2. If necessary, turn the PDM back on.
3. To light up the test strip area, select the
Light option. To turn the light off
again, press the
Light
option again.
