Precautions
Follow the dangers, warnings, and cautions given below when handling this instrument. This
information is to be supplemented by the dangers, warnings, and cautions given in each chapter.
WARNING
• Strictly observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may place the patient
and medical personnel in danger of an electric shock.

Do not souse or spill a liquid such as water over this instrument. If a liquid is spilt
on it, immediately wipe it. Should a liquid penetrate this instrument, immediately
stop using it and contact Olympus.

Do not prepare, inspect, or use this instrument unit with wet hands.
• Never install and/or operate this instrument under the following conditions. An
explosion or a fire could occur.

The concentration of oxygen is high.

Oxidizing agents (such as nitrous oxide (N
2
O)) are present in the atmosphere.

Flammable anesthetics are present in the atmosphere.

Flammable liquids are near.
• Do not use this instrument in an eye surgery or a procedure in which the
illumination light would be incident directly on an eye. Otherwise, the strong
illumination light may injure the retina.
• Do not use for purposes other than those described in “  Intended use” on page 2,
as this may result in injury of the patient or operator as well as damage to the
equipment.
• This instrument should be used under the conditions specified in “  Environment”
on page 65. Otherwise, imperilment of safety or failure of equipment may result as
well as malfunction.
• The information obtained through NBI observation is merely reference information.
Be sure to perform a comprehensive observation of all required regions by also
using the WLI observation.
• This product may interfere with other medical electric equipment used in
combination with it. Before use, refer to “Appendix” to confirm the compatibility of
this instrument with all equipment to be used.
