Chapter 4 Operation
LF-TP/DP/GP OPERATION MANUAL
Angulation of the Distal End
If the angulation control mechanism or any other part of the
system is not functioning properly, stop the procedure
immediately; do not operate the Angulation Control Lever
unless absolutely necessary. Then carefully withdraw the
endoscope while observing the endoscopic image. If the
endoscope cannot be withdrawn from the patient smoothly,
do not attempt to forcibly withdraw it; leave it inside the
patient and immediately contact Olympus. Forcibly
withdrawing the endoscope may cause patient injury.
Operate the Angulation Control Lever as necessary to guide the Distal End for
the insertion and observation.
Feeding and Aspirating Fluids
Feeding
Insert a syringe into the Slit of the Biopsy Valve and press the plunger.
Do not depress the Suction Lever during feeding. If the
Suction Lever is depressed during feeding, fluids will be
aspirated into the Suction Pump.
Aspiration
• Set the aspiration pressure of the suction pump within the
range of –34 kPa to 0 kPa. Excessive aspiration pressure
may make it difficult to stop suction. If the suction cannot be
stopped, disconnect the suction tube from the suction
connector on the suction valve and turn the suction pump
OFF. While noting fluid dispersion, slowly detach the suction
tube and remove all solid matter.
• Avoid aspirating solid matter or thick fluids, channel or valve
clogging can occur. If the Suction Valve clogs and aspiration
cannot be turned off, disconnect the suction tube from the
Suction Connector. Stop the procedure and withdraw the
endoscope from the patient.
