36 Copying
Bypass feeder
The exit tray doubles as a feed tray for up to 10 standard weight (80 gr/m
2
) sheets of media;
for other media types, see “Paper types and formats”. You can use the bypass tray to insert
media that is different in type and size from those in the main feeder.
If you use envelopes, before inserting them, make sure the edges and closing flap are well
creased, and that the flap lies flat. See “Paper types and formats” for descriptions.
To load and use media in the bypass feeder, proceed as follows:
1. Remove any printed documents from the exit tray and open the lateral and rear guides
completely.
2. Load not more than 10 sheets face down on
the tray, aligning the leading edge against the
feed rollers.
Make sure that the sheets are inserted in the
slot UNDER the output chamber.
3. Close the lateral and rear guides against the
sheets.
4. If you are using the multifunctional copier in copier mode, place your original on the
document glass and press or on the operator panel.
If you are using the multifunctional copier in printer mode, select “Manual” in the
Settings tab in the properties screen.
5. Remove the copy from the output tray as soon as it exits from the multifunctional copier.
If you do not remove it, it may be refed into the multifunctional copier.
