6. How can I enable or verify closed captioning is working in
MCE?
Answer
MCE 2005 supports closed captioning by default when you press the mute button
on the MCE remote control. Or, closed captioning can be set within the MCE
onscreen user interface. Obviously, the broadcast program needs to carry closed
captioning for you to see the text.
To change this setting, go to Settings

7. My system runs MCE 2005 previously upgraded from MCE
2004. Although the NVIDIA DualTV card appears to install
correctly, MCE cannot detect the tuner.
Answer
Please perform the following steps.
1. Install the latest NVIDIA DualTV drivers from our Software Downloads
page at:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
2. Verify that the system sees an installed Microsoft-certified DVD Decoder (the
NVIDIA PureVideo decoder if you ran the NVIDIA DualTV install CD)
with the Microsoft Decoder Checkup Utility:

3. The motherboard chipset drivers may need to be updated. Here is a list of the

If the issue is still not resolved, you may need to perform a fresh installation of
MCE 2005. You should back up all of your important files before formatting your
hard drive. A clean install of Windows is always preferred over upgrading from a
previous Windows version (old files, registry entries, and settings from your
previous Windows version can cause instability on your PC).
