Windows XP MCE
1. When I install a new TV Tuner such as the NVIDIA DualTV,
change the TV signal type, or update the tuner driver,
should I always launch the Media Center TV setup wizard?
Answer
Yes. You should run the MCE TV setup wizard every time you install a new TV
tuner or change the signal type (e.g. switching from a direct cable TV feed to set-top
box). NVIDIA recommends that you run the MCE TV setup wizard after updating
the tuner driver as well.
2. I already have another TV Tuner card in my MCE system.
Should I remove the tuner card first?
Answer
At the time of print, MCE supports concurrent use of up to two digital TV tuners
and either two separate analog single-tuner cards or one analog dual-tuner card. If
you already have an analog single-tuner card installed, you need to remove it first.
Please uninstall the related driver before physically removing the card.
3. What remote control should I use with Microsoft Windows
Media Center Edition?
Answer
You need to use an MCE-compatible remote control and receiver kit that may come
with your MCE system; you may also purchase an NVIDIA DualTV and MCE
remote control kit bundle from NVIDIA’s online store, or an MCE remote and
receiver kit from many popular online retailers.
If you intend to use one or two set-top boxes with your MCE PC, an MCE-
compatible remote control/receiver with IR blaster(s) is necessary. The remote
control unit does not control the set-top boxes directly; they are controlled by the
IR codes transmitted from the IR blaster(s) connected to the IR USB remote
receiver.
If you do not connect a set-top box to the MCE PC, the MCE remote control is
optional but will enhance your user experience.
