7. RECOGNITION OF LICENSE PLATES
Autonomous license plate recognition is the primary feature of the NVIP - 2H - 6732M/LPR camera, so
license plate recognition is enabled and pre - configured by default. The configuration of the camera for
the plate recognition includes recognition options (detection settings, comparison options, recognition
area settings, configuration of the plate database and schedule), and image setting options.
To ensure the highest possible level of correct recognitions, follow the recommendations below for the
installation and configuration of the camera.
7.1. Installation recommendations
•
The recognition area should cover the entire lane or entry/exit, and vehicle registration numbers
should always be visible
•
Objects that may obscure the picture, such as pillars, gates, buildings, etc., should be avoided.
•
Scenes with many trees or other moving objects (such as people, two - wheelers) in the recognition
area should be avoided
Monitoring of roads / intersections
•
The camera must be mounted in such a way that it can observe at least a 50 - meter long of straight
road
•
The camera installation height (H) should be between 4.5 m and 6 m.
•
The distance (D) (between the camera installation site and the recognition area) should be 15 m to
25 m. The distance (D) depends on the mounting height, usually 3 to 4 times the mounting height
(H).
•
The length of the recognition area (L) should be between 15 m and 20 m.
