Prerequisites and Guidelines
This section discusses prerequisites and guidelines for this release of Novell
®
iFolder
®
3.7
and the
iFolder
TM
Client. Before installing and configuring iFolder, make sure that your system meets the
requirements in each of the following:
Section 5.1, “File System,” on page 47
Section 5.2, “Enterprise Server,” on page 47
Section 5.3, “Novell eDirectory 8.8,” on page 50
Section 5.4, “Active Directory,” on page 50
Section 5.5, “Novell iManager 2.7,” on page 51
Section 5.6, “Mono 1.2.x,” on page 51
Section 5.7, “Client Computers,” on page 51
Section 5.8, “Web Browser,” on page 52
5.1 File System
iFolder 3.7 installs the iFolder files on the system volume. OES 2 Linux SP1 requires the Reiser
(default) or Ext3 file system for the system device. We recommend that you store the users’ iFolder
data on a separate volume.
5.2 Enterprise Server
IMPORTANT:
Do not install any of the following service combinations on the same server.
Although not all of the combinations cause pattern conflict warnings, Novell does not support any of
the combinations shown below.

We recommend that you install iFolder 3.7
enterprise server, Web Admin server, and Web Access
server after your Open Enterprise Server (OES) 2.0 Linux system is configured and running
properly. You must post-install iFolder if you plan to use NSS volumes for your iFolder data because
you cannot set up NSS volumes during an OES Linux install. However, if you plan to use a Linux
traditional volume such as Ext3 or ReiserFS for your iFolder data, you can optionally install and
configure iFolder when you install OES Linux.
