3.2:
The pieces of paraglider line or
small rods are now threaded through the
eyelets of the closing flap underneath.
By pulling on the line or the small rods
the flap is closed and the white loops
have been pulled through to the out-
side. Now the yellow closing pins of the
deployment handle can be passed
through the white loops one after the
other.
3.3:
Before removing the lines or the
small rods, the yellow closing pins in the
white loops should be in the inner radius
and the lines or small rods should be
touching the eyelets. This will minimise
any damage to the loops when the line or
small rods are pulled out.
After removing the lines or the small
rods, the yellow closing pins and the
black tabs of the rescue handle must be
stored in the elastic side pockets of the
rescue container.
Using the two round windows it is possible
to check whether the yellow rods are
located properly.
3.4:
If the rescue container is correctly closed with the rescue handle, the two red
zip sliders must be moved forward to the ends of the zips. It is important to move
the zip sliders at the end of the respective zip into the designated slider pockets
to ensure that the entire zip is closed. This is the only way to ensure a complete
and unhindered opening of the rescue container and the connection bridle pocket.
Please note:
if during operation of the harness one of the two red zip sliders
becomes visible, it should be returned to the respective slider pocket until it is no
longer visible.

Deployment check
Once the container is closed, deployment of the parachute must be tested. To do
this, put on the harness and sit in a hang frame. Close all the buckles as if you were
flying. Using one hand, pull the deployment handle strongly with an arm move-
ment away from the harness. If everything was installed correctly, first the yellow
closing pins loosen from the white loops and then the rescue parachute pushes the
zip open with little effort.
If the closing pins do not release, then the correct sequence for closing the flaps
should be checked. If the resistance through the zip is very high, it is possible the
rescue parachute is too large. If in doubt, contact a NOVA Service Partner, dealer
or parachute repacker.
After the deployment check, the parachute has to be re-installed and closed as
described above.
Comments
•
Before every flight check that the rescue container is fully closed.
Check
– that the yellow rods are in the transparent sleeves,
– that the red zip sliders are not visible,
– that the black zip is fully closed.
• Know the location of your deployment handle. Practise finding it in flight. In
calm conditions, practise putting your hand on the deployment handle (obviously
without pulling it!) and mentally rehearse a deployment.
