Installing or Replacing a Hard-Disk Drive

Caution
Make sure you perform an orderly shut down of the appliance before attempting to
remove the chassis tray assembly.
You must replace the hard-disk drive with a drive that has a capacity equal to or larger than the
drive you are replacing.
To remove a hard-disk drive
Use the following procedure if you currently have one or more hard-disk drives in your
appliance that you are replacing.
Caution
If you fail to use the following procedure when you remove the hard-disk drive, the drive
might become damaged or you might lose data.
1. If you are using the hard-disk drive as an optional disk for logging, perform one of the
following:

In Network Voyager:
a. Click System > Configuration > System Maintenance > Mobile Storage Media
Initialization.
b. Select unmount for hard-disk drive.
c. Click Apply.
d. Click Save.

You can also use CLI to remove the hard-disk drive. For more information about how to
remove the hard-disk drive by using CLI, see the
Nokia IPSO-VN User’s Guide and the
Nokia IPSO-VN Command-Line Interface Reference Guide .
2. Use Nokia Network Voyager or the command-line interface (CLI) to perform an orderly
shutdown of the IP561 appliance.
For information about how to access Network Voyager and the related reference materials,
see
“Using Nokia Network Voyager” on page 40.
3. Turn off the power to the IP561 appliance.
4. Loosen the two front panel retaining screws.
