Installing a PC Card

Nokia IP561 Security Platform Installation Guide

You can use the PC card flash memory to store local system logs. See

“Configuring a Hard-Disk

Drive for Logging”

on page 67 for information about configure the PC card for logging.

Nokia supports only PC cards purchased from Nokia or Nokia-approved resellers. For more
information, contact the appropriate Nokia customer support site listed in

“Nokia Contact

To install the PC card

1. Insert the PC card into the PC card slot until it snaps in place.
2. Press gently on the card until it is firmly seated in the slot.

The eject button to the left of the slot should be flush with the card.

If you want to remove a PC card that was configured as an optional disk, you must unmount it
before you remove it, as described in the following procedure. You do not need to turn off the
power.

Caution

If you do not perform this procedure before removing a PC card that is configured as an
optional disk, system processes randomly fail.

To remove a PC card in an IP561

1. If you are using the PC card as an optional disk for logging, do one of the following:

In Network Voyager:

a. Click System > Configuration > System Maintenance > Mobile Storage Media

Initialization.

b. Select unmount for flash-memory PC card.
c. Click Apply.
d. Click Save.

You can also use CLI to remove the PC card. For more information about how to remove
the hard-disk drive by using CLI, see the

Nokia IPSO-VN User’s Guide

and the

Nokia

IPSO-VN Command-Line Interface Reference Guide

.

2. Press the eject button to remove the PC card.
