The aperture diaphragm is
stopped down too far.
Open the diaphragm to a suitable size.
The condenser position is too low.
Adjust the condenser focus knob so that the
field diaphragm image is focused on the
specimen surface.
There is oil or water at the tip of
the dry type objective.
Clean the components.
There is a bubble in the
immersion water at the tip of the
water immersion type objective.
Raise the objective. And then, remove the
bubble from the water.
The orientation adjustment of DIC
parts has not been performed.
Adjust the polarizer orientation correctly.
The viewing is poor (too much
or too little contrast, or poor
resolution).
Dirt or dust exists on the
objective, condenser, eyepieces,
filters, specimen, or optical path.
Clean the components.
The nosepiece is not placed to a
click-stop position.
Push the slide click release button and slide the
sliding nosepiece to the click-stop position.
The specimen is not secured in
place on the stage surface.
Attach the specimen securely.
The focus is uneven.
The stage is tilting.
Install the stage correctly.
The nosepiece is not placed to a
click-stop position.
Push the slide click release button and slide the
sliding nosepiece to the click-stop position.
The specimen is not secured in

The condenser has not been
centered.
Center the condenser.
The image is elongated.

control knob on the power supply.
The image is too bright.
The lamp voltage is too high.
Adjust the brightness with the brightness
control knob on the power supply.
