2
Observe the specimen with both eyes and focus on the specimen surface by using the focus knob.
3
Rotate the right diopter adjustment ring while observing the specimen with your right eye so
that the reticle and the specimen come into focus.
Do the same for your left eye.
4.3
Interpupillary Distance Adjustment
Before adjusting the interpupillary distance, focus on the specimen with a low magnification objective
by following the steps of 1 to 10 in Section 2 of Chapter 1, "Microscopy."
Adjust the interpupillary distance so that the viewfields for both eyes come together. Doing so will
make observation through the binocular eyepieces with both eyes easier.
Converge until the right and left view fields coincide.

LWD Condenser
5.1
Focusing and Centering the LWD Condenser
The LWD condenser must be focused and centered so that the light passing through the LWD
condenser forms an image at the correct location (the center of the optical path) on the specimen
surface.
Before focusing and centering the LWD condenser, focus on the specimen with a low magnification
objective by following the steps of 1 to 11 in Section 2 of Chapter 1, "Microscopy."
When you wish to use the 4x objective with the LWD condenser, attach the additional lens for 4x
magnification into the turret of the LWD condenser and place it into the optical path. When you wish to
use an objective of a magnification higher than the 4x magnification, you need not attach the additional
lens.
1
Rotate the field diaphragm control to fully stop
down the diaphragm.
2
Turn the condenser focus knob to form the field
diaphragm image on the specimen image.
3
Turn the condenser centering screws so that the
field diaphragm image is roughly positioned in the
center of the view field.
