Before using edger, inspect the work area for any obstacles that cannot be
removed so you can avoid contacting them when operating the edger.
* Otherwise, you may trip on the obstacle or unintentionally hit it with the blade, potentially
resulting in serious injury or death.
Note
● If the edge of the blade is blunt or damaged, do not operate the edger. Otherwise, it could cause
damage to the engine and machine due to overloading.
1.2.4 Precautions at Start-up
The edger must only be started and operated by one person.
* Operation by more than one person increases the likelihood of mishandling and
resulting injury.
Always start the edger in an open, flat area with the edger off the ground.
* Otherwise, you risk injury from falling or hitting the edger blade on the ground or
obstacles.
1.2.5 Precautions for Operation
Do not operate the edger on insecure footings including a ladder, tree, back of
the truck.
* You could fall off the footing, drop the edger or contact the blade by inappropriately
handling it, resulting in serious injury or death.
Make sure that the wheel is touching the ground before starting the work.
* Otherwise, small stones, etc. will scatter or edger will be out of control, resulting in
injury.
Do not operate the edger using just one hand.
* You could drop the edger or contact the blade by mishandling, potentially leading to
serious injury or death.
If the blade starts moving while idling, do not use the edger.
