A USB cable (model 70044) and RS-232 and cable (model 70040) are included with each
Cornerstone 260B.
If using a commercially available USB-to-RS-232 converter cable, the driver for this cable must be
installed before communication to the monochromator can be established. The drivers are
frequently included with Windows operating systems.
Follow the instructions provided in the Quick Start Guide to install the utility software onto a
computer.
When powering on the instrument for the first time, it is recommended to perform a wavelength
offset as the grating turret assembly may have shifted during shipment. This procedure is detailed
in section 11.2. This is a good rule of thumb because it also compensates for optical system
alignment through the input slit, in the event that the light source isn
’t perfectly centered on the
optical axis of the instrument.
