Knocking in the sickle drive.
Breakage of the reel drive belt.
Plugging on the guards.
Pulling material by the roots
when cutting back swath or tall
material leaning into machine.
Short material being carried over
reel.
PROBLEM

Rubber bushing has worn out in
knife head.
Loose connecting link bearings.
Knife not adjusted properly.
Belt too tight.
Paint or rust on the drive sheave.
Cutting crops with an extremely
thick or wet undergrowth.
Excessive roll pressure.
Ground speed too slow.
Reel speed too fast.
Reel in wrong location.
Reel speed too fast.
Replace the rubber bushing.
Adjust or replace bearings.
Adjust ledger and back clearance
at knife head end.
Align knives at center overlap.
Adjust belt as detailed in “Reel
Drive Belt” (Section 4).
Remove paint or rust.
Cut when undergrowth is dry.
Raise cutting height to get above
dead or wet material.
Use optional stub guards.
Align knife sections, hold-down
clips and guards.
Reduce roll pressure.
Increase ground speed.
Reduce reel speed.
Move reel rearward.
Reduce reel speed.
Install optional 16-tooth reel
speed reduction sprocket.
