Section 4 – Maintenance
This section discusses how to care for the inkjet cartridges, clear paper jams, and perform
routine operator maintenance to the XPS-ProMail 3.0/4.0 Printe
r.
Inkjet Cartridge Maintenance
Cartridges that are properly maintained can normally be used until the cartridge is empty.
If cartridges are not properly maintained; nozzles will clog creating poor print quality and
reducing cartridge life.
Inkjet cartridges must be replaced when out of ink or when the print quality is poor and purging
and cleaning has not improved the image quality.
The Approximate life of the HP45A style Inkjet cartridges:
Print Quality Resolution (hxv) Approximate yield
600 dpi 600 x 600 50,000 addresses
300 dpi 300 x 600 100,000 addresses
200 dpi 200 x 600 150,000 addresses
150 dpi 150 x 600 200,000 addresses
NOTE: Base on 3 lines of 20 characters (courier 10 font). These figures can vary depending on
the font selected. A bulk ink cartridge/bladder will print approximately 10 times the number of
addresses as a standard cartridge.
Replacing the Inkjet Cartridge:
Inkjet cartridges must be replaced when out of ink or when the print quality is poor and purging
and cleaning has not improved the image quality.

The cartridges are held in place by a lever mounted on the pen
stall. Release the lever by raising it vertical.

Remove the used cartridge from the pen stall; by pulling the
cartridge up and out of the pen stall.
