Installing the Header Pipe
• Install new header gasket.
• Install circumferential clamp on flex-pipe.
• Install the header pipe.
• Tighten exhaust manifold nuts to 13–15 ft-lb.
• Push up on the flex-pipe and ensure the header pipe is fully engaged into
the flex-pipe. The slots must be fully blocked by the header pipe as shown
in figure 37, item 1.
• Tighten circumferential clamp to 8–9 ft-lb. The clamp must be at the end of
the flex pipe, the slots must be visible below the clamp. (Refer to figure 37,
item 1.)
• Tighten the u-clamp to secure the exhaust to the engine mount.

CAUTION
Be careful to not damage the
insulation on the pipe.
