This chapter tells you how to resolve problems with your
printer’s operation.The following subjects are explained:

Here are some suggestions for maintaining the highest print
quality from your printer.
• Replace the Toner Cartridge as soon as the display
indicates that replacement is necessary.
• Use high-quality paper or transparencies to obtain sharp,
crisp characters and maximum contrast.
• Follow the cleaning procedures described in Chapter 7,
“Maintaining Your Printer.”

ROUBLESHOOTING
Here are some simple resolutions to occasional printer
problems.
Problem
Solution
Power light is off Check that the power cord is plugged
into a live power outlet and the
printer power switch is turned on.
Power light is on
but printer does
not print • Verify that the Ready indicator
light is on (if it is not, press the Go
button).
• Verify that all interface cable
connections are tightly secured.
Printer does not
operate by
pressing the GO
button
Turn the printer off, and then on
again.
Printer does not
print from
software
application • From the Windows Start button,
point to Settings , then select
Printers
.
• Select PCL6 , PCL5e , or PS printer
icon.
• From the File menu, select
Default Printer
.
Printed data is
not sent to the
printer • Check the printer cable
connections (See page 13 and14.)
• Check the printer port on your
computer.
Paper does not
print to the output
tray Check for paper jam or misfeed.
Paper does not
stack correctly Make sure that the paper weight is
between 16 and 43 lb.
