SIMM UPGRADE KITS
The system board comes standard with 8 MB of memory (16 MB in desktop multimedia
systems). Memory over the first megabyte of RAM is extended RAM. SIMM upgrade kits
are 70-ns SIMMs.
NOTE:
The metal plating on the SIMM stick
connectors must match the metal plating in the
SIMM sockets of the computer. Use tin-plated
SIMM sticks with tin-plated SIMM sockets.
Memory expansion options include the following kits.
n
4-MB SIMM kit is a 1 MB x 32 bit SIMM stick.
n
8-MB SIMM kit is a 2 MB x 32 bit SIMM stick.
n
16-MB SIMM kit is a 4 MB x 32 bit SIMM stick.
n
32-MB SIMM kit is a 8 MB x 32 bit SIMM stick.
The system board also supports 36-bit parity SIMMs.
SIMM sticks install in two sockets on the system board. The system supports up to 64 MB
of high-speed memory. Different size SIMMs may be intermixed.
Use the following procedures to install a SIMM stick.

SIMM components. Heed the cautions in the
following section.
Cautions
Always remove a SIMM from its shipping material carefully. Static discharge can damage
SIMM components. Take the following precautions when handling SIMMs:
n
Avoid carpets in cool, dry areas.
n
Do not remove the SIMM from its anti-static packaging until installing it.
n
Before handling a SIMM, discharge any static electricity by touching a grounded
metal object, such as the metal frame inside the system unit.
n
Always hold a SIMM by its edges. Avoid touching the components on the
SIMM.
