This document provides precautions on the use of this product.
Please read through the instructions below and keep this document in a safe place for your future
reference.

Precautions for Using Windows Server 2003 R2
(1) Changing a setting in the system BIOS SETUP menu before installing the OS
In the system BIOS SETUP menu, changing the [Periodic SMI] setting value to [Disabled] is
required before installing the OS. To change the setting, follow the steps below.
After installing the OS, be sure to revert the [Periodic SMI] setting to the default value
(Enabled) before using the server.

How to change the [Periodic SMI] setting to [Disabled]
1. Turn on the power of the server and the following message appears at the lower left of the
screen.
Press <F2> to enter SETUP
Press the <F2> key to enter the system BIOS SETUP menu.
2. Select [Advanced]
→
[Advanced Chipset Configuration]
→
[Periodic SMI], and then,
change the setting from [Enabled] to [
Disabled
].
3. Press the <ESC> key to go back to [Advanced Chipset Configuration]
→
[Advanced].
4. Select [Save & Exit]
→
[Save Changes and Exit] to exit the BIOS SETUP.
After completing the steps above, install Windows Server 2003 R2.
5. After completing all the installation work, reverting the [Periodic SMI] setting to [
Enabled
] is
required before using the server.
To revert, follow the above steps 1 ~ 4 and revert the setting to [
Enabled
] in the step 2.
