memory.

in the printer reacts when exposed to the fuser’s
temperature of 392˚F (200˚C) for 0.1 seconds.

release hazardous emissions, or break down in any
way.
GDI Abbreviation of Graphical Device Interface.
This is a library of core functions in Windows that
processes graphical data for display and printing.
grain The position of the paper fibers. During the
manufacturing process, most fibers are oriented
with their length running parallel to the long
dimension of the cut sheet. Once manufactured,
paper can be cut into sheets with the grain running
either parallel to the long dimension of the paper
(long grain) or perpendicular to the long
dimension (short grain).
These characteristics (“Long” or “Short”) are
usually specified on the paper package. The
dimensions listed on a paper ream list the long
grain dimension last. If short grain is specified on
a ream of letter-size paper, the size reads 11 in. by
8 1/2 in.
graphic An image that graphically represents an
object, concept, or message.
gray scale A setting you use to select the best
halftone pattern for the graphics in your document,
based on whether it contains photo images, line
art, or scanned images.
halftone The reproduction of an image using dots
of varying sizes in a grid pattern.
hot-key A combination of keys on your computer
keyboard that you press at the same time to
execute a command or launch an application.

object, concept, or message.
