24 I nstalling the Syste m Piping
Before connecting the condensate drain, choose one of the
following disposal options:
a

a. Fro m the boiler directly into an external drain.
b. Fro m the boiler, through a neutralizing agent, and then
into an external drain.
Note
I f you choose this option, the neutralizing agent
m ust be replaced periodically. Depletion of
the neutralising agent will vary, based on the
usage rate of the boiler. During the first year of
operation, the neutralizer should be checked
every few
m onths for depletion and replaced as
needed.
c. Fro m the boiler into a laundry tub.
Note
The botto m of the boiler m ust be higher than
the top of the laundry tub to use this option. The
condensate line
m ust have a negative slope to
drain properly.
d. Fro m the boiler into a condensate pu m p, and then into a
laundry tub.
Note
A pu m p can be used when there is a long
distance between the boiler and the laundry tub
or when the botto
m of the boiler is lower than the
top of the laundry tub.
To connect the condensate drain:
1. Connect a drain line to the 13 mm fitting at the botto m of
the boiler.
Use only corrosion-resistant m aterial for the drain line, such
as PVC or CPVC. Do not reduce the size of this fitting or the
drain line to less than 13
mm .
2. Place the free end of the drain line into an appropriate drain.
3. I f you are using a condensate pu m p, ensure that the pu m p
allows for up to 3.78 LPH of drainage for each boiler in the
syste
m .
4. I f you are not using a condensate pu m p, ensure that the
drain line is pitched downward at a m ini m u m slope of 6 mm
per 30 c m .
Note
Water m ust be poured into the exhaust connection to
fill the condensate trap.
4.4 Pipe Dimensions and Water Pressure
The re q uire m ents reco mm ended for the pipe di m ensions and
water pressure are as follows:

The connection dia m eter for the do m estic cold water inlet
m ust be at least Ø15 mm .
Ɣ
I f a shut-off valve is fitted at the do m estic cold water inlet, it
m ust have a safety valve incorporated, calibrated to 9 bar.
Ɣ For DHW production installation, the inlet pressure m ust be
over 0.5 bar.
Ɣ
For hot water supply to the second floor of a building, the
m ini m u m pressure re q uired is 1.0 bar.
Ɣ
The pipe dia m eter is not deter m ined by the boiler connection
but m ust be calculated in accordance with its length and
conse q uent pressure drop.
