Replacing the Battery Pack
WARNING: Use of an incorrect battery pack could lead to
equipment damage, explosion, or fire.
WARNING: Electrical shock hazard when enclosure is
removed. Always unplug the power cord from the electrical
outlet before cleaning or servicing.
CAUTION: PC boards contain static-sensitive parts. Always
use appropriate ESD protection when enclosure is removed.
To replace the battery pack:
1. Power off the scale and unplug its power cord from the
electrical outlet.
2. Remove the scale enclosure (see Disassembly on page 3-6).
3. Clip the cable tie holding the battery pack and remove the
battery cable clamp (
Fig. 3K
).
NOTE: When reassembling, ensure that the battery lead
to the main PCB is routed through the cable clamp.
4. Unplug the battery connector from the main PCB ( Fig. 3K ) and
lift battery pack from its Velcro
®
hold-down. The battery pack is
rated at 7.2 Vav, 1700 mAh, rapid charge.
NOTE: Only replace the battery pack with Natus battery
pack, catalog no. 400850-01.

5. After replacing the battery pack, reassemble the scale by
reversing the steps described in
Disassembly
on page 3-6.
NOTE: Charge new batteries for 2.5 hours before operating
scale on battery power. To charge, ensure that the batteries
are in place, then connect power cord to a hospital-grade
electrical outlet. The amber “Charging” light illuminates while
the device is connected to an electrical outlet.
