On/Off
Press On/Off to turn the Smart Scale display on or off, respectively.
When the Smart Scale display is on, the “Standby” light blinks for a
few seconds while the scale warms up and automatically zeros.
NOTE: Do not touch tray until the “Standby” light dims. The
“Standby” light will not dim if the tray is moving.
NOTE: If items (e.g., blankets) are placed on the scale before
the “0” appears, they will not be weighed—they will be tared
out. (See “Tare Function” below.)
Weighing the Baby
When the “Standby” light dims and “0” appears on the display,
place the baby in the center of the tray.
When weighing an inactive baby, the “Read” light illuminates and
the weight will appear on the display.
CAUTION: Never touch the tray or baby while the
“Averaging” light is flashing.
CAUTION: Never leave the baby unattended while on
the scale.
Tare Function
To cancel (tare out) the weight of blankets or other objects, either:

If the scale display is already on (“0” on the display), place the
blanket on the tray and press Zero . The weight of the blanket
will be cancelled and “0” will appear on the display.
–or–

If the scale display is off, place the blanket on the tray and
press On/Off (do not touch tray until “Standby” light stops
flashing). The weight of the blanket will automatically be
cancelled and the display will read “0”.
After the objects (e.g., blankets) have been tared (cancelled), the
scale will weigh the baby without including the object’s weight.
NOTE: When the scale has been zeroed between
weighings, if a blanket is removed from the tray after
its weight has been cancelled (tared out), the scale will
automatically zero itself again. The “Standby” light may
flash for a few seconds and the “0” will reappear on the
display. This means that the scale is no longer subtracting the
blanket’s weight and is ready to start a new weighing.
