Integrated Electronic Piezoelectric (IEPE) Sensors
The MON-10467 can provide an IEPE excitation current for each channel to measure IEPE
sensors. You can configure IEPE excitation current per channel.
Typical IEPE sensors have a case that is electrically isolated from the IEPE electronics.
Therefore, connecting this type of sensor to the MON-10467 results in a floating connection.
Typical IEPE sensors used in industrial machine condition monitoring applications may also
be supplied with a cable shield drain wire that is floating at the sensor end. In this case, the
drain wire should be connected to the channel chassis ground terminal of the MON-10467.
IEPE Fault Conditions
When IEPE is enabled, the MON-10467 monitors the input voltage to determine if there is a
connection issue with the attached signal source. Common connection issues that can occur
include open and short circuits. An open circuit occurs if there is a disconnect between the
signal source and the MON-10467, resulting in the input voltage rising too high. A short
circuit occurs if the MON-10467 AI+ to AI- terminals have been shorted. For example, a
sensor fault could cause a short circuit. If an open or short event occurs, the hardware will
continue to perform the configured acquisition and return the acquisition to InsightCM, but
will set a fault indicator flag advising the user that the returned data is invalid.

Hardware needed:

PG16 gland (supplied by NI) or 0.5 in. conduit fitting
•
Power cable with a smooth, round jacket and individual conductors up to 12 AWG that
comply with your local electrical code
Tools needed:
•
2.5 mm flat-blade screwdriver (your own or NI part number 786911-01)
•
27 mm deep socket
•
30 mm socket or wrench
•
24 mm socket or wrench
•
(Optional) 24 mm gland dome nut tightening tool (SEALCON part number S-2400-WR)
Caution
Disconnect external power to the MON-10467 (AC) and use the external
circuit breaker box to completely remove mains power before opening the device for
service.
Attention
