Installation and Configuration

Device Configuration

Due to the National Instruments standard architecture for data acquisition,
the PCI bus specification, the IEEE-1394-1995 specification, the PCMCIA
(PC Card) specification, and the 671X device is completely software
configurable. There are two types of configuration on the 671X
device—bus-related and data acquisition-related configuration.

The PCI/PXI-6711/6713 device is fully compatible with the
industry-standard PCI Local Bus Specification Revision 2.0. This
specification allows the PCI system to automatically perform all
bus-related configurations and requires no user interaction. Bus-related
configuration includes setting the device base memory address and
interrupt channel.

Data acquisition-related configuration includes such settings as analog
output range, reference selection, and others. You can modify these settings
using NI-DAQ C language API, or application level software, such as
ComponentWorks, LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and VirtualBench.
