Installation

Installing system board components

l

Locate the SIMM sockets between the expan-

sion bus backplane connectors on the system

board (see Figure 4-3). If the system board is

installed in a computer chassis, remove

peripheral boards adjacent to the SIM

sockets installed in the system.

Note: On the MAE486, banks U96 through U99

must be filled before the next bank is used.

Make sure the SIMM faces the front of the

chassis (away from the IU connector). Align

the SIMM with the socket hole and gently

push the edge of the SIMM sockets, as shown

in Figure 4-4, to release the module. Release

one side of the SIMM first, then remove the

other side to prevent breaking through the
