operation

After stopping the engine

Drain engine coolant (→ Page 114);
Drain charge-air coolant (→ Page 120) if:
•
freezing temperatures are to be expected and the engine is to remain
out of service for an extended period and if no antifreeze has been
added to the coolant;
•
the engine room is not heated;
•
the coolant is not kept at a suitable temperature;
•
the antifreeze concentration is insufficient for the engine-room tem-
perature;
•
antifreeze concentration is 50 % and engine-room temperature is be-
low -40 °C.
Engine/generator/pump
control
Switch off.
Air intake and exhaust sys-
tem
If the engine is to remain out of service for more than 1 week, seal the en-
gine's air and exhaust sides. If the engine is to remain out of service for more
than 1 month, carry out preservation (→ Preservation and Represervation
Specifications A001070/..).
