ATTACHING THE CONTROL PANEL
(Hardware B)
1. Position the control panel on the outside of
the right handle as shown in figure 4. In-
sert carriage bolt (E) through handle,
control panel, clutch grip bracket and at-
tach loosely with cupped washer (L) and
hex locknuts (D). NOTE: Locknuts cannot
be threaded onto a bolt by hand. This type of
nut is used where vibration occurs.
NOTE:
The portion of the clutch grip
bracket with two holes should be flush
against the handle with the offset to-
wards the inside of unit.
2. Attach the left handle in the same manner.
Do not tighten at this time.
ATTACHING THE CLUTCH GRIPS
(Hardware E)
1. Place clutch grips in position between the
control panel and the clutch grip bracket
as shown in figure 5. Insert hex screw (X)
through the hole in the control panel then
the spacer (Y), clutch grip and clutch grip
bracket. A slight tap with a hammer might
be necessary. Secure using hex nut (W).
Note: Do not over tighten the bolt as this
will prevent the clutch grips from returning
to their upright position.
2. Tighten all hardware assembled to this
point. CLUTCH GRIPS MUST MOVE
FREELY.
ATTACHING THE CLUTCH CONTROL
CABLES (Hardware F)
1. The clutch control cables are attached to
the snowthrower. Your cables may be at-
tached to the top of the engine with cable
ties, cut the ties.
2. Thread hex jam nuts (k) onto the “Z” fittings
see inset figure 5. Insert “Z” fitting into hole
in clutch grips. See figure 5.
3. Swing the left auger cable up making sure
the cable is routed correctly in the cable
roller guides located at the lower rear of the
unit.
4. Hold the end of the cable at the barrel so the
ferrule turns freely without twisting the cable.
Thread the ferrule onto the “Z” fitting, you
may have to pull on the cable slightly to re-
lieve tension, keep the ferrule turning without
twisting the cable.
5. Correct adjustment on cable is minimal slack
but not tight.
6. Hold the flats on the ferrule with pliers and
using a wrench tighten the jam nut (K)
against the ferrule.
7. The right drive cable should be assembled in
the same manner.
CAUTION: Cables will loosen if not tight.
NOTE: If the right hand lockout cable is
not adjusted correctly, the wheels will
tend to turn. If the left hand lockout ca-
ble is not adjusted correctly, the augers
will not stop rotating.
WARNING: There must not be any
tension on either clutch cable with
the drive or auger clutch grip in the
disengaged (up) position. These
clutches are a safety feature, and
their function can be overridden if
there is tension on either cable with
the clutches disengaged.
