Troubleshooting

This chapter provides information to help troubleshoot general MCD 5000 Deskset problems.
For more information and maintenance, refer to your system administrator.

Use

Table A-1

to identify a symptom and learn about possible causes and solutions.

Troubleshooting

Symptom

Cause

Solution

MCD 5000 Deskset does not power
up

Power to the MCD 5000
Deskset is disconnected.

•

Check connection of Power Supply Unit to
outlet.

•

Check connection of Power Supply Unit to
MCD 5000 Deskset.

•

If MCD 5000 Deskset is powered via LAN,
check connections of PoE cable to network
and MCD 5000 Deskset.

The MCD 5000 Deskset screen
appears blank

When not active, the MCD
5000 Deskset screen goes
into sleep mode after some
time to save power.

Wake the MCD 5000 Deskset screen by lifting the
handset, or by pressing any button.

When entering User Name and
Password after MCD 5000 Deskset
lock, the Invalid Login screen is
displayed.

The MCD 5000 Deskset was
locked by other user.

To unlock the MCD 5000 Deskset, contact the
user who had locked the MCD 5000 Deskset or a
administrator.

The MCD 5000 Deskset screen
appears very dark under any
circumstances

You might have changed the
MCD 5000 Deskset screen
illumination on your MCD
5000 Deskset.

Use Settings to change the screen illumination.

The soft-key that you want to use
does not appear

The soft-key is located on the
extension screen.

Press

More

to reveal additional soft-keys.

Can not transmit

A parallel MCD 5000
Deskset is currently using the
radio connected to your
MCD 5000 Deskset (red
Transmit LED is on).

The radio connected to your
MCD 5000 Deskset is
currently taken-over by a
supervisor.

Wait until the red LED turns off to resume
transmission.

•

Wait until the

icon is removed from the

screen to resume transmission.
