Check that the rocker rods are straight

and that the contact surfaces at the

ends show no signs of seizing; other-

wise, replace it.

•

To check the pressed ends on the rods

(pads) for looseness, simply drop the

rods from a small height on a flat sur-

face; on impact, you should hear a

sharp clank: this means the pads have

no clearance.

Adjusting valve clearance

•

Bring the piston of the left cylinder to

top dead centre making sure that the

reference mark on the crankshaft gear

is up on the perpendicular axis.

•

Place the camshaft with the reference

pin of the gear pointing downwards.
